Febrile Seizure
ATS Category 3 — Evidence Grade A
Epidemiology
Most common seizure disorder in childhood, affecting 2-5% of children aged 6 months to 5 years.
Pathophysiology
Seizure occurring in association with a febrile illness (temp >38°C) without evidence of CNS infection or defined cause.
Risk Factors
- •Family history of febrile seizures
- •High peak temperature
- •Daycare attendance
- •Developmental delay
